Top 10 Highlights： (1) The Crown Room and The Stone of Destiny where the nation's treasures are kept. (2) The Great Hall holds a fabulous display of arms and armour and the 'key' to the castle. (3) Royal Palace created in 1617 in honour of James VI. (4) St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest building in Edinburgh, built to commemorate the mother of David. (5) The Prisons of War is an atmospheric recreation of the life of prisoners at the end of the 18th century. (6) Mons Meg is one of Europe's oldest siege guns that fired stones weighing 150kg (330lbs) over 3.2km (two miles). (7) The One o'Clock Gun is the famous cannon which has been fired almost daily since 1861. (8) The National War Memorial is a shrine to those who gave their lives in conflicts from World War I onwards. (9) The National War Museum of Scotland, and individual regimental museums. (10) Panoramic views across the capital, over the Firth of Forth and into Fife, which can be enjoyed from the castle's walls. |

逛完格子呢編織工廠，我們就到旁邊的愛丁堡城堡。前方的廣場正在進行八月愛丁堡軍樂節的看台工程。此時已經快十一點了，遊客很多，還好售票櫃檯也不少，在加上大家排隊的秩序很好，效率算不錯。我們排隊買門票大概花了15-20分鐘吧！買票的時候售票員會問你需要什麼語言的導覽圖，有簡體中文的。如果售票員沒有問你，可以主動跟他要，有導覽圖逛起來方便多了。
在城堡大門對面有語音導覽（Audio Guides）可租用，有多種語言可選，但因為要另外付費，所以我沒有購買。（The official Edinburgh Castle audio guide. Available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian and ＊Mandarin. Adult (age 16 to 59) £3.50）。還有販賣愛丁堡的紀念指南（Souvenir Guides），有中文版本，一本 £4.95。
＊Mandarin 指的是普通話，就是中文。有些景點會用這個詞，但不多。一開始我還搞不清楚，我在另一個地方時，因為工作人員用的是Mandarin這個詞，我說我要的是Chinese，她說這個就是，我就比櫃檯上的一個五星旗，她說就是這個，我才知道原來還有這個詞。 XD~~

芒斯蒙哥大炮（Mons Meg）：Mons Meg is over 550 years old, one of the world’s oldest cannons.
早上出門的時候有一點涼意，這時有點後悔自己沒帶圍巾。逛到愛丁堡城堡的時候竟然開始下雨，雖然是小雨，但因為天氣有點冷，因此一整個就是覺得冷。雨下一點就停，然後又下，都小小的，搞得我都很想躲在室內乾脆不要逛了。
後來，我們在 Red Coat Café 吃午餐。雨突然下大了，餐廳裡人超多，還好我們有找到室內的位置可坐。我點了一杯LATTE（£2.40）、一個SCONE PLAIN（£2.95）。雖然SCONE PLAIN看起來很小一個，但它不是鬆軟的那種，而是很紮實的，很好吃，而且很有飽足感。
一點鐘大炮（One o'clock Gun）：The One o’ clock Gun was first fired from the Castle on 7 June 1861, and has continued ever since, six days a week. 每天下午一點鐘會有炮手長響空炮，一周六天，周日除外。
聖瑪格麗特禮拜堂（St Margaret's Chapel）：The oldest building in Edinburgh. 跟其它雄偉的教堂比起來，這個教堂真的很小而且非常的樸素。
大廳（Great Hall）：The Great Hall was completed in 1511, as the nation’s chief place of ceremony and state assembly.
皇冠（The Crown Room）：The crown, sceptre and sword date from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The Crown was made in 1540 by the Edinburgh goldsmith John Mosman, who lived in the Royal Mile. Mosman melted down the gold from the old crown, added more Scottish gold and studded the new circlet with precious gemstones. The Crown was worn for the first time by James V at the coronation of his second queen, Marie de Guise. （＊禁止拍照）
軍事監獄（Prisons of War Exhibition）：Over the centuries, the castle was used to hold state prisoners, and sometimes to put them to death. In medieval times, common criminals were thrown into dungeons beneath the castle. 1781年6月，愛丁堡城堡地窖囚滿了戰俘。幾乎有一千名戰俘被關在這些狹小的城堡地窖裡，大多數人都是在美國獨立戰爭期間在海上被俘虜的。在這裡，遊客可以看到一些重現囚禁戰俘地窖的原貌，包含囚犯當時所製造的物品。地窖裡的戰俘睡在平板床或吊床上，遊客可以明顯的看到有些木頭的殘留物，是當時1750年代建造的平板床的一部份，現在都在這裡展示。為了保暖，獄方給每個戰俘一條用稻草填滿的床墊以及毛毯。
居高臨下的風景真的很宜人。
最後，要離開之前，別忘了到售票處旁的gift shop逛一逛。
